For my 600th post, I'm putting up a very long, very unusual fic. This was my submission for [livejournal.com profile] happy_trekmas. I really enjoyed writing this, not least of all because it's so different from what I normally produce (shite), but I also collaborated much more with (read: actually listened to) my beta - who always knows better than me. It's a threesome I don't ship, and it actually has angst and plot and everything!

Title: A Hunger That Never Dies
Rating: R
Series: AOS AU, with references to TOS and DS9 characters and episodes
Pairing/Moresomes: Chris Pike/James Kirk/Leonard McCoy, Leonard McCoy/??? *cough*
Word Count: ~20K
Summary: On an away mission, Captain Pike is…injured. Is he ill, is he mad? Is he even Chris Pike anymore? Can Jim Kirk find a “cure” or will he and Dr McCoy be swept up in the captain’s madness in an attempt to save him. And can the Klingons, Section 31, and the Vulcan Science Academy help them, or just make things worse?
Warnings: Creature, bloodplay/drinking, a bit of gore, discussion of PTSD, angst, dub-con, mind melds
Notes: This story would NEVER have been possible without my beta [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith, who was more helpful than the VSA and S31 combined. Also, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mildred_bobbin for proofing a fic containing (almost) no one she recognised;) And, of course my brother [livejournal.com profile] nicevenn, for the leap out of current fandom projects. Xx

I must also mention my wonderful giftfic, a beautifully-crafted Garak/Bashir story which can be read here: The Intervention of Time and Distance, by [livejournal.com profile] templemarker.

Hello flist! Yes, it's meeeee! I know I kinda disappeared in a puff of Real Life, and am about to do so again, but I need to resurface to say a few things.

Firstly, profound thanks needs to be given to [livejournal.com profile] mayfly_78 for the gorgeous animated In the Garden of Eden, which was gifted to me as a remix of my In the Beginning. It's simply stunning. If you've not seen it, I urge you to go have a look. Also, huge thanks to the [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix mods for running such a brilliant fest! Xx. I wrote a little something for [livejournal.com profile] megyal, called Anywhere is Here. It's a continuation of her very fun RPS If You Could Be Anywhere. I like to think that all actually happened, Y/y?

And if you're in desperate need of more fluffy smut, this time of a Trek slant, I updated my Perfectly Reckless (Khirk) series today with Hotel Medbay. It's not a long update, but an important one. There will be more. Promise. *wink* (LOL, sorry.)

In RL news, things continue to go well: still have a job I love, a big old Georgian house that's slowly getting a face lift, kids who mostly behave (they'll be 10 this year - WTF?), Mr Nursedarry continues to build wind turbines and still enjoys it, and our connoisseur cat, who's keen to supplement our diets with numerous birds and rodents, is enjoying the changing season immensely.

This weekend sees me down in London again, schmoozing with my gorgeous fangirl friends, and rubbing shoulders with T.Hiddy and the beautiful people on the red carpet at the Oliviers.

I'll leave you with a bit of randomness - borne of strange dreams and a couple vodka tonics. The other night, for absolutely no good reason, and with an enormous repertoire of fantasy men and women to choose from, my subconscious pulled out the Gilligan's Island episode where Mary Ann falls and bangs her head and thinks she's Ginger. I even woke up with the strains of I Wanna Be Loved By You tinkling through my head. Anyone remember that? It's not even my favourite episode! So, tell me, what was yours? I loved that show and would like to hear your fond memories (or hated ones).

I'm ready to sit right back and hear your tale...Oh yes...Professor...mmmmm....boopboopedoo.
nursedarry: (Fan Art)
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. And you need to see it too.

Go now.

Goggle.

In the Garden of Eden, by Anonymous, rated PG.
nursedarry: (Thank you)
Just for change of pace, I also prompted a pairing I don't often read, but I can see so easily:

Snape appears in Malfoy Manor (as a ghost, as human, just as long as he can feel and communicate) on the first Christmas Eve after the War. Lucius finds him by the fire in the drawing room. All Snape knows is that he can't stay there for long.

I'd love this to be romantic/sweet rather than smutty - don't need a high rating, just a bit of angst and a lot of "awww." These are two hardened and ebil men; they'd have trouble showing/discussing their feelings, so it might be a little awkward to have a cuddle or romantic moment, but they try anyway. I'm after bittersweet here - happy ending not required, but closure is.

And did my Mystery Author deliver?

Oh yes, s/he did! It'll make you smile and cry and awwwwww, and....just go read it!

Christmas Eve, Rated PG

Yeah, so, this [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest prompt I put up:

Pairing: Pansy/Ginny
I want PURE FILTH - dirty talk, toys (Christmas presents, maybe?), the works - I draw the line with watersports and scat. Not fussed about the era or infidelity. Want it consensual, that's it. Bring it on.

Challenge accepted. On the Loose, NSFW

ALSKIJAKDSJHLGDHASGSGGGGFFFHHJJJJK!

*cough*

Thank you so very much, Mystery Artist. I love it.
nursedarry: (Fan Art)
I got beautiful, beautiful fanart!

It's a happy/tragi story with some of the loveliest art with one of my favourite things, ever - grabbing and playing with each others hair! Yeah, I love that, I can see it, I think all my fandom OTPs do it (hell, I KNOW they do!).

I am so in love with this, I just want to sink my hands into their hair myself and tell them both it'll be okay... WOW. Happy sigh.

Thank you so much, Mystery Artist.

Right, first the stuff that can't be cut!

Once again, I was unable to write for [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest (I need to have a word with the mods to try to get them to work better around my schedule) but I DID manage to throw down a prompt. And that prompt was picked up and masterfully filled with the funniest, awkward bonded-to-the-bum-and-then-have-tea-with-the-future-in-laws fic imaginable. I urge you all to stick yourself firmly to The Dangers of Faulty Handwriting and then squee all over it.

In addition - these super-sweet flisties all have birthdays this month and I'm sorry this mention is a bit delayed.

Please enjoy these choccies and have a wonderful day!

And speaking of birthdays, this is for everyone!
THANK YOU

I'm trying to thank everyone individually who sent lovely stuff and birthday wishes, so if you've not heard from me yet, you should by the end of the weekend. If you don't, please hit me with a very large wad of money stick, and I'll be sure to be in touch.

Also, as many of you already know, I've had to give up co-modding [livejournal.com profile] crack_broom as my RL gets busier, and I'm very sorry to have to step down. I want to say a HUGE thank you to [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 and [livejournal.com profile] lore for being the best damn co-mods ever and all the reccers who have helped make the Broom a great place for great fandom goodies. And welcome to new mods [livejournal.com profile] scarletladyy and [livejournal.com profile] wwmrsweasleydo!

This is the boring RL move update )

That's all from me for now. I'm still here and am keeping up, back to posting the [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet, but just being a bit quiet these days. I know! Colour me surprised!

(TB friends, I'm sure you'll be hearing from me after the 16th:)

Hello all, and welcome to March.

This is the part where I talk about [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix:
This will be the last time I mod this fest - indeed, I've done very little modding in the last couple months. I've handed over the reigns to the very capable [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11 and [livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo who've been looking after the fest for awhile already and will be taking it forward from now. I've not had the time to devote to this fest, as RL always seems to get in the way, which is a great pity, because it's one of my favourites, but I do hope that I can write for it next year! In the meantime, this year's fest looks set to be a doozy, not least of all because we've got [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules designing the participants' banners! Thanks again to Vaysh and MM, and I'll see you at sign-ups next year!

This is the part where I talk about [livejournal.com profile] godriceric:
I have, though, along with my co-mods [livejournal.com profile] sati_lotus and [livejournal.com profile] jelly_baby23, taken on this comm, which the LJ powers rather recklessly gave to us when the previous owner left. We'll slowly be revamping it (no pun intended) and hope all you True Blood fans will stop by. Again, RL may quickly take over even the small amount of time I have for this, but for now, it's moving forward, albeit at a snail's pace. Just FYI, in the past, the comm's posts were locked, and we're in the process of unlocking the fic/art/media and hope to have a masterlist up at some point. If you've got anything posted there, please unlock if you want it included and ensure all links are up-to-date and patent.

The most important part - the birthdays:

Happy birthday to all these fine folk, without whom my life would be far less fun and a lot less interesting!

Let's have some biscuits this month!

Oh, and thank you to whoever it was that claimed my [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest prompt!

Before I say anything about me, I must thank the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] star_sailor13 for the most amazing and beautiful [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays gift in the shape of I Want, I Need. I love it, and I'm so chuffed she created something just for me! *hugs art*

Okay, on to the fic...

Title: This Foolish Lover's Game
Pairings: Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione, Blaise/Charlie
Summary: Harry and Ron are sent to elite Auror training, and guess who’s also there. Somehow, Harry and Draco manage to learn a few things before falling into bed between the sniping and sparring in order to become the best of the best of the best. EWE.
Rating: NC17

Warnings: Crack, fluff, naughtiness, the threat of karaoke
Word Count: ~8K
Author's Notes: Dragon-sized thanks to my beta, [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith. Written for the fantabulous [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae for [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays. Strangely enough, I decided on the plot for this prompt just days before Tony Scott’s death (may he RIP). I’m not sure he’d be too pleased with this homage to his best-known work, but I hope you all will be. The title is taken from Take My Breath Away.

H/D FanArt fest has started and this is all mine. And I am so effing grateful for it.

Hello everyone! Yes, some of this barely-controlled joy is pharmaceutically derived, but it's also the result of sleeping well, eating well AND FINALLY HAVING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF CIRCULATING OXYGEN IN MY BODY.

I came home from hospital yesterday. It is very weird to think that exactly this time last week, I was on an operating table with a bunch of people's hands in my chest. I have an enormous scar now, but at least my heart is working like it should be! A good trade, I think. Evidently, it wasn't pretty: my heart had become "grossly enlarged" and my pulmonary veins were more of a mess than the angiogram and MRI had indicated. The surgeon fixing them was able to re-route them all to the left atrium. I had my mitral valve repaired (annuloplasty), with the aid of some Gore-tex sutures to replace a couple chordae tendineae and a synthetic ring (for which the other surgeon gave me the serial number - in case of recall, I guess - EEEK!) There's a chance that I'll eventually need the valve replaced, but not any time in the near future. They also performed a pulmonary vein ablation procedure to control my atrial fibrillation.

The following people should be sainted for acting above and beyond the call of duty with their visits, gifts and hand-holding whilst I was being jabbed and lines and drains were being yanked out of me: [livejournal.com profile] meredyth_13, [livejournal.com profile] accioscar, [livejournal.com profile] mayfly_78 and [livejournal.com profile] felidaeryl. [livejournal.com profile] sati_lotus kept me laughing and I even got a nice tweet from my favourite True Blood vampire - THANK YOU, ALLAN!

Huge thanks also goes to [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea, [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11, [livejournal.com profile] groolover and [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules for finishing up [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix. I owe you my mod life, ladies!

Finally, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE for your lovely messages, vgifts, e-cards, emails, healing thoughts, and well-wishes. I could NOT have got through this as easily as I did without my internet friends, and I thank god for all of you.

I'm still going to be lying low on LJ for awhile whilst healing and getting back fully into RL, but it should be back to business as usual in the virtual world in the next few months.

Happy Christmas to meeeeeee!

I got Veela fic for a pressie this year and it's got Healer!Draco, amusing Weasleys, Hermione the Brilliant and Wise(!), action, chickens, yummy smut and great characterisations!

The dub!con warning is nothing to worry about - it's just on there because who knows what you'll do when overcome by raging Veela hormones - you know they want it, right?

Go read The Importance of Blood and you'll be saying Mmmmmmmm for the rest of the day!

[livejournal.com profile] the_ass_fest reveals are up and I can admit to this silliness.

Title: Do As I Say, Not As I Do
Pairing(s): Albus Severus/Scorpius, I’ll say no more.
Rating: NC17 (just)
Warnings: None
Word Count: ~7.4K
Summary: They thought they had the perfect plan. They didn’t.
Prompts: Two wonderful prompts submitted by [livejournal.com profile] tabitha666: Al and Scorpius decide to try something new in their sex life; roleplaying their fathers and Al and Scorpius' first time is embarrassingly and accidentally interrupted by their shocked fathers.
Notes: As ever, thank you to my brilliant betas, [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith & [livejournal.com profile] groolover, and to [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk for the great advice. The ending is rather abrupt (and plagairised), but I thought Draco and the Divine Ms R said it better than I ever could.
