I'm sorry I've not responded to the comments on or reposted my

hd_holidays fic yet, but figured you'd rather know what was going on with me :) Watch this space, I'll get to them eventually, I promise.

So, no hernia, no ulcer, no gallbladder problems, nothing gastric or respiratory - it's all cardiac, which I suppose makes the management a bit easier. I'm still awaiting OH surgery to repair or replace my mitral valve and to re-site at least one pulmonary vein. I meet with the surgeons at the end of the month following my MRI. The cardios reckon I'm looking at late March, unless the surgeons think I need to be done sooner. In the meantime, I'm taking drugs to control heart failure and atrial fibrillation, which is how this has all manifested. I'm moving a bit more easily and a bit further, but I'm still often short of breath and my legs hurt like hell. Part of that is the Restless Leg Syndrome I've once again developed (I had it when I was pregnant - let's hope it disappears as fast as it did the last time).

I'm not sleeping well or a lot, but am now signed off work until at least the end of April. Following surgery, I'll be in hospital a week and then in rehab for a month or so. I have until the end of June on sick leave with full pay, so I'm sorted there, at least. I went out for lunch with my boss yesterday, who misses me. I miss her and my job so much. Annoyingly, I find it difficult to concentrate on anything for more than about 30 minutes, (which includes driving), so I'm trying to keep busy with short-term projects. Hubs is still off-shore but the kids have been great, and I've got some help with childcare and housework, and so far, so good. I'm hoping to be fully recovered following this - if nothing else, I'll have a lot better uptake of oxygenated blood!

Sadly, I've had to cancel my trip to the States and Norwescon, as my surgery is inconveniently coinciding with it. I'm completely gutted about this, as I was so looking forward to seeing everyone and having a brilliant time at the con. I WILL get over there eventually, not least of all to visit my family, but now this will give

dysonrules a chance to get Dan or Tom in as a special guest for when I DO get back. I HAVE, at least, been able to get tix to a con over here in September to meet with my fellow Allan Hyde fans and hopefully chit-chat with my favourite very old teenaged vampire.
