A good one...zzzzz, and Pengwengs
Nov. 23rd, 2014 04:15 pmHad a lovely (but long) day in London yesterday, but totally worth the hours. Penguins of Madagascar is hysterical and definitely will entertain all ages. Personally, I think John Malkovitch deserves a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in it. The kids had a smashing time, they got goodie bags for having brought their penguin toys with them, and although I think my friend Naomi and I may have laughed louder than anyone my children, they loved the film and the attention.
The Barbican is currently running children's animation workshops/drop-in sessions, and my two got to make their own animated animals and learn about the filming process. I'm told their "feature" may be available on-line at some point, so will link to it if it is. (And when I say feature, I'm talking minutes, here:)
The divine
cleo_jay joined us at the pub, where the kids were equal parts squicked and fascinated by the game hanging up in the place. The food was good and the prosecco inexpensive, so it was win-win for everyone!
Aaaaaaand, because we were right next to the Museum of London, we stopped in to say hello to this handsome fellow.

We then met the multi-talented
joan_waterhouse, who'd been at RADA showing them her stuff, and we all caught up with the latest fandom gossip, exchanged early Christmas presents, and talked a load of shit for the next few hours, before the kids and I had to hop on a NW-bound train.
Can't wait to meet up with all the loonies again and do this some more over the next few months.

Jul. 9th, 2011 03:15 pmBut that's only part of what's happened in the last two months, or since I've had time to actually play with you lot.
Before I start cutting this to save you all from having to read the rest of this post, let me just say a HUGE THANK you to everyone who sent me virtual kisses! I tried to send one to everyone on my flist, but my explativing explative modem doesn't seem to like my new house very much, and it bails every five minutes, so I'm actually pretty chuffed to have got as many sent as I did. I am very, very sorry if I missed you out, but please know that I wanted to snog you stupid, even if I didn't.
Right, now. Why I've been gone and where I'm going, and if you'd like to skip to the end, there's some fic for you:)
( We moved )
( Then husband went to hospital )
( Step right up for your flu jab )
( Thank god for fandom )
Now for the fic -
Last week I received a gorgeous piece of school!smut (how did she know?) from one of my favourite writers. I had actually forgotten I left a couple of prompts over at
hd_relief, and was delighted to be presented with this:
Author:
khasael
Title: Relax (don't do it)
Summary: It was only a matter of time before Harry's inability to remember Potions information got him in trouble... although some sorts of trouble are a lot more pleasant than others.
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 3,700
In addition, I was honoured to write this little ditty for
cassie_black12 for the
harrydracompreg fest - it's silly, not squicky and I had a fantastic time coming up with the plot. Thank you to everyone who commented - I'll reply later tonight when the modem might be more co-operative. Thank you, also, to my fellow mods,
sassy_cissa,
kittyfic, and
enchanted_jae!
Title: The Proof Is In the Potion
Prompt: Breaking the news to Draco's parents.
Rating: NC17
Warning(s): Mpreg, duh.
Epilogue compliant? Not even a little bit.
Word Count: ~8K
Summary: Rita Skeeter does some actual research, and damned if she isn’t shocked with what she finds: Draco in the family way, a secret from way-back-when, and Lucius has the most shocking taste in alcoholic beverages.
All for now - I'm mostly back and really missed you guys.

Plans within plans...
May. 21st, 2011 08:53 amHello flist! I've missed you, but I have been keeping my eye on you.
So, lots of things happening but first of all, I must say a big thank you to everyone who's picked up my birthday prompt by contributing to Operation H/D Support and
snitches_n_smut. It's not long till the big day, and I'm basking in Quidditch-love everytime I check LJ!
In other news, Mr Nursedarry got the second job he applied for (Siemens Windpower), as well as the first (something in Salisbury, which would have been a long commute!), and has decided to accept the Siemens one. He'll start in mid-June.
But before that, we're moving off the base (bye-bye RAF!) and into Reading. We've found a great house to rent whilst we look for something to buy, and the kids start their new school after the half-term at the beginning of June.
And I'm meeting up with
being_here and
katerina_black next week! Wo0T!!!
Finally, I can report I've been a busy fangirl and will have three fics posting in fests in the near future. They're all pretty much my usual fare - expect the boys to pull the rip-cords on their parachutes only to find an anvil comes out.
I had to abandon Glompfest which broke my heart, and I feel awful about it, but we've ended up needing to move a month early and I wouldn't have had time to write my name (even this post has been delayed), let alone a fic.
BUT, all that does mean I might have time to write for the next installment of Operation H/D Support. What do you think? A little emo/angry next time? *ducks*
EDT: I'm an idiot and forgot to mention the lovely jellybeans given me by
fireflavored,
cassie_black12 and
alaana_fair. THANK YOU, LADIES!
Hugs to you all, and see you next week ;)

Hello!
I'm back from my lovely weekend away with
cassie_black and
accioscar. I live near London, have a HM Forces rail card, and never miss a chance to schmooze with fangirls. We went to two theatre productions - one, a Sondheim musical, and one a black comedy. I'm not a huge lover of Sondheim, but the cast were great. The play we saw later in the evening was amazing, and the acting was just in-your-face superb. I got to see Rupert Someone-from-Merlin in his pants, and got a smile and a nod from Colin Someone-from-Merlin after taking his picture with a near-hysterical Scar.
I also laughed my head off, drank a lot of lovely cocktails, and ate some yummy food! I finished up the weekend at Kings Cross, waving bye-bye to Mr Nursedarry and my kids, as they were catching the train to Scotland to spend half-term with my in-laws. (Better them than me, I say!) I'm working this week, as my boss is also away, but wow, I've got the house all to myself! RESULT!
Now, for two compltetely random questions:
1. Does anyone know where
acromantular is these days? I need to speak with her somewhat urgently. It's nothing bad, just one of those "doh!" moments we've had at
hd_remix. Thanks,
anthimaeria!
2. Does anyone know how to take lots of jpgs and make a slide-show that can be posted on/linked to LJ? I've seen it done before, but I've no idea about those things and am keen to learn!
Okay... how about some gooey kissy-fic!
I got a beautiful and touching - AND HOT - gift called Of Dreams and Reality by the lovely
kamerreon. It's full of near-trust, typical boy-communication, and even a bit of forgiveness. Did I mention it was hot?
Here is my submission, written for the prompt-tastic
baterina_1234.
Title: Suspend Your Disbelief
Rating: PG13 (Huh, what?!)
Wordcount: ~1350
Warning: Someone’s a bit tied up at the moment.
Summary: Time for a little Q & A. Fluffy kink-kissing.
Note: This was also written using a prompt given me by
hp_positions for their Valentines Shag (see end of fic).

Humbled by teh love
Dec. 26th, 2010 05:57 pmI can barely express my thanks for all of the wonderful gifts I've been given. I only need to look at my LJ to be reminded of how much sharing this fandom means to me, but I want to say thank you for even more holiday bounty.
This icon (along with the fic I recc'd previously) were fantastically-inspired gifts from
leo_draconis, who's orchestrated so much wonderfulness this holiday *blows kisses*.
I also received wonderful nursey and Dan icons from the lovely
bleedforyou1, a new LJ friend *hugs*.
I've (or rather, my lucky children) have had more RL cards from
alovelycupoftea and
softly_sweetly, who's gift of ST movies I'm still delighting in getting through. (I know, I have no taste:)
Virtually, I've also received a lovely card from
dirty_darella (H & D looking so cute in their pyjamas!), and a family of Christmas bears and other great v-gifts from
yumekutteikt,
cassie_black12,
moonlitdark,
leo_draconis,
arineat,
cinnetart,
being_here,
frayach,
thepretender501, and
demicus. I can only echo
dysonrules when I say how ridiculously happy getting these makes me.
cassie_black12, my soul-sister, gifted me with lovely smelly things for my bath, lovely gifts for the kids, and a huge amount of time and money to visit me whilst I was feeling poorly. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your friendship.
I also got a nice phone call from Mr Nursedarry last night (who had to work, but still got a Christmas dinner). He'll be home now in less than a month. *throws confetti*
nicevenn organised
hd_seasons stocking stuffers (click on the link below) which consisted of the Most. Wonderful. Gifts. Thank you so much to everyone who created the fic, art, and media. *am still amazed at the sheer quantity and quality of them* They have brought me so much joy today, it's almost criminal. Ginormous armfuls of love and chocolate go to
sabinefrappe,
uniquepov,
nicevenn,
quimvaa,
dirty_darella,
kjp_013,
khasael,
ficreader76, and
kitty_fic. I'll be reccing these again when they're reposted on individual LJs after the 1st.

Note: there are three - yes, three - pages. Click on Next for the other pages, as they're not linked.
If I've left anything off, please do call me on it. We've had a lot of trouble with the post due to weather, so if you've sent something via snail-mail and I've not yet mentioned it, chances are it's not yet arrived *sob*

More ficceh for meeee!
Dec. 19th, 2010 09:10 amBlessed be Anonymous, for s/he brings femmeslash for my YuleBalls present! Strap on Scheme, Brew, Love!! and share a few rough and ready moments with the ladies (those Puffs! Whew! Who knew?).
Blessed be
hereticalvision, for she brings H/Sc in a gritty little ficlet not for the fluffy-minded: Arrivals. It's time to celebrate themselves, and boy do they plan to.
*puts on meteorology hat*
The weather outside is...shit. The forcast is...shit. My evil plan to keep
cassie_black12 here another day may have just worked. God knows if I'll get back into work tomorrow. Knowing the A4074 into Reading, it's doubtful. Thank god for my flist, friends, and a big fuck you to my broken dishwasher.
*waves*
All for nao.
Blessed be
