But that's only part of what's happened in the last two months, or since I've had time to actually play with you lot.

Before I start cutting this to save you all from having to read the rest of this post, let me just say a HUGE THANK you to everyone who sent me virtual kisses! I tried to send one to everyone on my flist, but my explativing explative modem doesn't seem to like my new house very much, and it bails every five minutes, so I'm actually pretty chuffed to have got as many sent as I did. I am very, very sorry if I missed you out, but please know that I wanted to snog you stupid, even if I didn't.

Right, now. Why I've been gone and where I'm going, and if you'd like to skip to the end, there's some fic for you:)

At the beginning of June, we left our last RAF base for pastures more urban and now live in the centre of Reading. I love it. I'm a 15 minute walk from work, the kids are in a class full of other kids whose names I can't pronounce, there's millions of takeaways and restaurants, and I can walk to the shops, the train station, and the pool. The Tesco Extra is just down the road and it's still only 1/2 hour away from the friends we have in Benson.

The kids have settled in well, and we've got child-care and summer hols organised now. But it was a bit of thing getting there as just after we moved...

He'd not been feeling well for a few days before we moved, and the Friday before the Monday he was supposed to report to training for his new job with Siemens Windpower, he was admitted to hospital for IV antibiotics and fluids. Up till then, he'd been having to clean out the house on the base so we could march out, and get stuff unpacked here - I was back to work by then - and whatever he had - some kind of viral infection or autoimmune reaction was in full swing.

So, I had to take a few emergency days off, put the house on hold and get stuff sorted for the kids and ferry stuff back and forth to him. Luckily we're not that far away from the hospital, and he was out quick, but it's taken him a few weeks to recover. He's all better now and starting work on Monday, which is good, cause he's driving me fucking mad being home all this time. I'm sure it was no picnic for him, either, as he's never had even one day off work sick (unless you count being hungover), and it really threw the poor man for a loop.

Yes, flu season doesn't officially start until October, but for people like me who organise all of the immunisation programmes for the county, we have to have our skates on already. So work has been no picnic either recently. I love my job, and I love my office, but it's been crazy busy (flu is only one of the imms programmes I'm responsible for delivering), and on top of the domestic craziness, I've had a lot to juggle.

During all the chaos, I've had the opportunity (actually, I insisted on them, or I'd have gone barmy) to hook up with a number of wonderful LJ friends. [livejournal.com profile] being_here and [livejournal.com profile] katerina_black were both in Reading not long ago and I had two great evenings drinking cocktails with them! *waves* Come back, ladies! I'll leave the kids at home next time :)

On the 4th of July, I went into London for some good home cooking and mad fangirl chatter with [livejournal.com profile] accioscar and [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12, both of whom I'd missed terribly and now miss terribly again!

On Thursday, I ran into twenty thousand of my closest friends in Trafalgar Square, but the ones I remember the most were [livejournal.com profile] groolover, [livejournal.com profile] mayfly_78 and [livejournal.com profile] croatoan6000. The girls were WONDERFUL and let me yammer on with my stupid accent and laugh at my terrible jokes. For a much more informative review of the day, please see this awesome post, EDT: which is now flocked, but she's said she'll happily add people to see it. There were also some famous people milling about I think, but I only recall a couple of them clearly.

Next in the pipeline is a wonderfully long visit from everyone's favourite Danish pastry, [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk, who blessedly is coming over to help me with the kids for a couple days a week this summer whilst Doug is away on this 7-week training course. We shall also be meeting [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66 in London in a few weeks whilst she's over on her UK tour! Wish I could join her for all of it!

Now for the fic -

Last week I received a gorgeous piece of school!smut (how did she know?) from one of my favourite writers. I had actually forgotten I left a couple of prompts over at [livejournal.com profile] hd_relief, and was delighted to be presented with this:

Author: [livejournal.com profile] khasael
Title: Relax (don't do it)
Summary: It was only a matter of time before Harry's inability to remember Potions information got him in trouble... although some sorts of trouble are a lot more pleasant than others.
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 3,700

In addition, I was honoured to write this little ditty for [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 for the [livejournal.com profile] harrydracompreg fest - it's silly, not squicky and I had a fantastic time coming up with the plot. Thank you to everyone who commented - I'll reply later tonight when the modem might be more co-operative. Thank you, also, to my fellow mods, [livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissa, [livejournal.com profile] kittyfic, and [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae!

Title: The Proof Is In the Potion
Prompt: Breaking the news to Draco's parents.
Rating: NC17
Warning(s): Mpreg, duh.
Epilogue compliant? Not even a little bit.
Word Count: ~8K
Summary: Rita Skeeter does some actual research, and damned if she isn’t shocked with what she finds: Draco in the family way, a secret from way-back-when, and Lucius has the most shocking taste in alcoholic beverages.

All for now - I'm mostly back and really missed you guys.

Sounds like you've been busy, but yay for meeting lj friends, moving house and lots of nearby takeaways!

Bloody hell! I'm glad things have settled down a bit now. That's all so busy. Is your better half all recovered now? And bra shopping on top of all that? Ouch! I hate bra shopping.

It wasn't too traumatic. I already had the kind I wanted - I'm just glad they STILL had some; they always seem to discontinue my favourites!

HI! Welcome back :)

Is it pervy for me to want to see the bras?

Yay for moving, to a lovely home in a lovely neighborhood that's still near enough to your lovely friends!

Boo for sick husband :( I'm glad he's feeling better now; that must have been something.

*sends you anti-work-stress vibes*

More yay for meeting wonderful fandom friends! Although boo to 'access is denied' :)

I am willfully preventing myself from reading anything from the new fests, as I need to concentrate on a BB beta, an overdue library book that needs finishing, and...okay, Chapter 10 of Turn just got posted, and I can't resist that. But I love me some [livejournal.com profile] khasael, so I can't wait to read her story. Oh, and it turns out that of the few mpreg fest stories I managed to read, yours was one of them - I adored it! (Love the AD/GG inference!) And I didn't comment on a one at that fest (I suck, I know).

Good to see you back, and good luck with that pesky modem :)

Not pervy wanting to see them, but they're dead boring, plain strapless things I wear under everything.

I can't wait to get back into fests - I had to bail on Glomp AND Support because of all of this and it made me feel awful :(

*waves at you*

everyone's favourite Danish pastry BWAHAHAHAHAHA XDD LOL! *huggles*
We're going to meet up with sesheeta? Coolness ^_^
...it sounds like Dough is away-away for the time I'm there. Is he, like, off living somewhere else, or just 'away' as in really busy starting up his new job?

Speaking of, could you email me your new address and your phone number? :)

Also, been thinking of taking the coach that'll arrive at London Liverpool Street Stn around 17.45 - that was one of the places you could pick me up, right? Could you be there around that time, or?

Thursday was marvellous - despite the rain and standing! Sorry to dash, we should do it again!

Your fic was totally my cup of tea. Amusing inner monologues from Draco, hot Harry and cameos by our favourite family - the Malfoys! (God, Lucius and his girly drinks was just too much!)
