No matter where you go, there you are...

Health

Still rockin' the purple half-leg cast after finally getting the two tendons in my ankle repaired that I tore last summer. That comes off in a week or so. I hate not being able to drive and am spending a fortune in bus fares and childcare when Mr Nursedarry isn't around. Also, I'm recording every calorie that passes my lips atm, because although I lose weight quickly, I also gain it fast, and hobbling around isn't like my usual work-outs at all *makes pouty face* I don't want to have to take off anything I inadvertently put on. So far, pretty much maintaining. But I MISS MOVING! Grrrrr.

EDT: 18/8/14 It's off now! *throws confetti*

Saw my cardio team yesterday. The loop recorder will stay in place for another 6 months, they want to make sure they catch everything the ticker is doing for a little longer. I'm not in AF anymore, but all the scar-tissue from the surgery is still disrupting the rhythm - which, I'm told, can be common after tinkering. In order to keep the annoying-but-benign palpitations from becoming more-annoying, more-serious arrhythmias, I've been put back on an anti-arrhythmic medication. Pacing wouldn't necessarily get rid of these palpitations, so this is the best solution for the moment, and seems to be working well. The pulmonary vein re-plumbing and my repaired mitral valve are still looking good, so YAY!

Fangirling

Doing it a bit of fangirling remotely this summer, although I was able to get tickets from a friend (thank you, Naomi!) to see Monty Python (Mostly) Live last month. It was (mostly) good. I really enjoyed reliving the old sketches I'd grown up with and singing along with the "classics". Also, the filmed blurbs they played during the scene changes were all hysterical, and not-surprisingly, most featured Graham Chapman.

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] botanycameos wins at life for getting me Peter Weller's autograph last weekend in Las Vegas *squee*, and [livejournal.com profile] leochi wins at life for illustrating a scene from a book for me that birthday-girl Botany and I both love. (Just for fun, I sent it to the author, who was also delighted, and with whom I now have regular and ridiculously fun email conversations - Greg Cox, if anyone is interested).

Also, got rock star seats for the final matinee of Hamlet next year.

Want to write for [livejournal.com profile] happy_trekmas this year if it's on again, and otherwise, beta-ing a bit, and winding up people on Twitter as much as possible.

Aaaand, nothing else, really, as everyone else is going to things I want to be going to, but can't because I'm too busy/on the wrong continent.

Real Life

How the hell can it be my children's 10th birthday already??? I just blinked and BOOM! Also in birthday news, my dear-old-dad is 99 on the 19th, and plans are already afoot for next year's big blow-out. Which will definitely involve me catching up with as many people as possible back in the States, and watching a shit-tonne of baseball.

We're all off on a holiday later this month to Corfu. either to Lanzorate, Crete, or Malta, if Mr Nursedarry ever makes up his mind. Or maybe somewhere else; I've given up asking, and have done my bit taking time off work and getting the cat booked into a cattery. Watch this space. See, I told you. Oh well, it's booked.

Work is still great, not-so-new house is still great (though inexplicably full of Loom Bands at the moment), garden is lovely, everyone doing well.

Also, this:
NurseDarry's Personality Type Results

I've had this done professionally in a job I had a few years ago, and it came out exactly the same.

haha loom bands.

Also you have twins?? my hat is off to you.

Also very good heath update.

Also yay for fangirling, and all those holiday places sound divine. OMG I will be in the US next year in August, wouldn't it be hilarious if that's where we finally manage to meet up? (Brother is getting married, husband is minding the kids with his parents, I've been issued 2 week free pass for holiday with girlfriend/sister after the wedding).

[identity profile] nursedarry.livejournal.com 2014-08-07 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes I do. Here's a pic of them taken about 10.5 years ago :)

OMG - I knew you were going over for your brother's wedding, but didn't know when! That's brilliant. When is it? I'll make sure to tell you if and where this event is taking place - there's always a chance it won't be, of course... My father's birthday is the 19th, so I'll definitely be over that week - hence the Hamlet tix booked for Oct.

I'm gutted I won't be able to meet up with you in September, so I shall continue to pester you on line and criticise your ship beg you for more Sherstrade.

Awww, they were so cute when they were little lol

I know, they take after me in that pic.

Asleep.

Well, our Meyers-Briggs results are almost the same, except I'm the introvert to your extrovert (and I'm a nuse, as well). I have often been an INFJ. The F and J are always in the low 50%, meaning that even though I'm there, I'm also close to being the other. The only thing that isn't even close to the middle is the Introvert part. I'm like 70% introverted. Wish I wasn't, but not much I can do about it. All in all, I'm happy enough with the results. We're good people!

In the workshop I went to awhile ago, the consultant said that the first and last two letters weren't as important to know as the middle two (in terms of work stuff) so, we were all split into groups where those matched. It was way cool. I realise the best bosses I've had - or the ones I've connected with the most are the ones who shared those two letters with my type - the other letters weren't as important (at least in that job). That obviously isn't the case in all jobs - we had this typing done with the view to our particular area of work at the time (which is still pretty much what I do.

Am very happy to hear that your heart is thumping along as it should, albeit with a little chemical assistance. I need you in the world to occasionally remind me what I was like when I was sixteen or seventeen lol!! ::hugs::

[identity profile] nursedarry.livejournal.com 2014-08-08 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
How can I remind you if it was mostly a hazy drunken memory?

Also, icon love.

I am trying to get a firm answer from my dad about his birthday party wishes. It will most likely be in Phoenix or Kansas, but will be inviting you, regardless! After that, planning trip up to the NE, so will find you SOMEWHERE!

10 years old no way.

Time does fly my daughter is a Senior this year. My son is a Sophomore in Collage.

I am pleased about your ankle *hugs*

Yay for cast coming off soon! \o/

My youngest is writing wish lists for his t10th birthday too these days. His day is not until October, but his already super excited about it. I can't believe I don't have any small children anymore. Where did all the time go?

This late in summer I would recommend Crete above the other two options. Especially Malta gets very dry this late in the season and you actually risk water restrictions, i.e. no showering after salt water swimming and sandy beaches.

Thank you darling - hubs has decided on Corfu and booked it, so thank god, somewhere! (Although I did suggest up your way too. SOMEDAY!!!)

[identity profile] nenne.livejournal.com 2014-08-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Corfu sounds lovely and I haven't forgotten our discussion about you coming here, so I'll hold you to that. Someday.

[identity profile] enchanted-jae.livejournal.com 2014-08-10 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of exciting things! Well, except for the cast, but at least it was all for a good cause.

[identity profile] vix-spes.livejournal.com 2014-08-12 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, loom bands are driving me crazy ... all of my students seem to be addicted to the bloody things, even the boys!!

Glad that the heart repairs are holding up and really not long until you get the cast off! Good news about the holiday as well.

Also, yay for Hamlet tickets!!

Every time I hear someone say "Corfu" my first impulse is to say "Bless you!"

Check out this lovely banner for [livejournal.com profile] mini_fest. Adorable, no?
