Well, will travel half-an-hour down the road, at least.

Birthday Weekend in London check-list:

1. Fan-girls and friends coming in from the the four corners of the UK (and even further) to help celebrate?
✓ Check

2. Money on my Oyster Card (for riding the Tube)?
✓ Check

3. Booking made at restaurant known for awesome margaritas (food, what food)?
✓ Check

4. Booking made at alcoholic ice cream parlour with the smokin' hot waiters?
✓ Check, although we'll be lucky if they let us in again after last time...

5. Body working like it should be (finally)?
✓ Check, although it's wearing a dodgy spray tan

6. Hubs sorting out kids and then taking off to the North Sea the day after I get back? (That's actually a good thing as we're driving each other nuts both being at home all day).
✓ Check

7. Someone organising a present that's boy-shaped and meets my boy-shaped-present criteria? (Probably best left to [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 or [livejournal.com profile] accioscar.)
✔ ✔ Bloody well better be.

8. The presence of another medical professional aside from myself, because I'm not going to be good for anything but mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
✓ Check

9. All you guys?
I WIIIIIISH!!!!

See you later! No doubt someone will be drunk-posting regular updates.

I'm still here! Barely.

I'm in Criccieth, north Wales, with my in-laws and limited internet access. It's beautiful, quiet, and at the moment has mostly crappy weather. The kids are having a brilliant time, though, and after a few drinks, I am too.

This afternoon, I'm making Pavlova and writing porn. I think that's suitably hoiday-esque, don't you?

Anyway, I haven't forgotten my flist and I hope you've not forgotten me.

I'll be back Saturday afternoon. If you haven't heard from me by Saturday night, send out the RNLI (and make sure everyone on the boat is fit, yeah?).

Quick post as I'm trying to get the rest of the housework done before sitting down to Top Gear and my Waitrose treacle tart (they make the best ones) and a lovely cup of tea (not to be confused by the real thing:) If only I had some Cookies and Come® ice cream to go with it...(thanks for that, [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis).

Huge foot-long thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sra_danvers, [livejournal.com profile] joan_waterhouse, [livejournal.com profile] drippingcherry, [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis, [livejournal.com profile] melusinahp, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 - have a nice cold beer to go with those.

And many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk and [livejournal.com profile] maja_li for rekindling my love affair with yaoi. Since I don't play in Camelot, and we've all been a bit bored post meet-up, it's been great to get back to Japan. I may have just spent a little money on the DVDs of my favourite OVAs as I'm tired of watching my not-so-great downloads (there was a reason I didn't watch these for so long). I'm rationalising the expense as useful diversions whilst Mr NurseDarry is next on deployment. What I can't explain away so easily is my decision to buy a manga comic based solely on the fact that one of the characters wears glasses....well, that and the cover has Explicit Content written across it.

Next week is my last week in my current job and in my diary tomorrow, all it says is "Leaving Lunch at the pub with 20 people". I've also got the twins' sports day on Thursday so watch out for pics of that. Or run away, whichever you're more inclined to do :D

Right, so back to my [livejournal.com profile] hd_fan_fair fic later and I might be writing a short sequel to Was It Something I said, which is all [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet's fault.

Cheerio for nao!

And go Netherlands!
Balls.

Nom, nom, nom... Here I am, eating my way through these lovely snowflake cookies! Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12, [livejournal.com profile] ohnvm, [livejournal.com profile] micolerose, [livejournal.com profile] faithwood, [livejournal.com profile] katelinmr, [livejournal.com profile] lotus_lizzy, [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk, [livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66, [livejournal.com profile] 3whiteroses, [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules, [livejournal.com profile] nolagal, [livejournal.com profile] okydoky, [livejournal.com profile] fireflavored, [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet, [livejournal.com profile] delorispea, [livejournal.com profile] phoenixacid, [livejournal.com profile] lolafalola, [livejournal.com profile] brissygirl, [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, [livejournal.com profile] pink_mint, [livejournal.com profile] alaana_fair, [livejournal.com profile] tray_la_la, [livejournal.com profile] tari_sue, [livejournal.com profile] nuclearsugars, [livejournal.com profile] loikifan and [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea!

I'd also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] rage_it for the super-cute penguin and [livejournal.com profile] silentauror for the 2nd degree burns.

I absolutely adore virtual gifts, so these were (almost) all a wonderful treat!

I'm sorry I was so Scrooge-like in my gift-giving yesterday, but karma felt I hadn't done enough stupid things in one week and decided I should break my big toe whilst kicking a door open wearing fuzzy purple slippers (sadly, NOT the steel-toed ones) and shouting at my husband.

Honestly, the argument was an important one...it was all about...er...well, whatever it started with, it quickly detoured off into the familiar waters of ALL of those things we ALWAYS dredge up whenever we argue, know what I mean? Yes, I can almost see the nodding heads out there.

As a result, by the time I'd sat down at the computer, my toe strapped up in Christmas ribbon (I'd run out of Micropore), with a bag of frozen peas precariously balanced on it (my icebag sprung a leak, and Mr Bump wasn't cold enough from the fridge), I wasn't feeling very full of the Christmas spirit.

But if fanfic teaches us nohing else, it teaches us about the merits of amazing make-up sex. (Although usually sans a broken toe, which is something I will not ever be taking for granted again.)

Finally, I'd like to say thank you for all of the wonderful fic, art, recipes and laughs which have been popping up on my computer whenever I turn it on. I love my flist. Thank you all. I'm off to the doc now...
