Health

Still rockin' the purple half-leg cast after finally getting the two tendons in my ankle repaired that I tore last summer. That comes off in a week or so. I hate not being able to drive and am spending a fortune in bus fares and childcare when Mr Nursedarry isn't around. Also, I'm recording every calorie that passes my lips atm, because although I lose weight quickly, I also gain it fast, and hobbling around isn't like my usual work-outs at all *makes pouty face* I don't want to have to take off anything I inadvertently put on. So far, pretty much maintaining. But I MISS MOVING! Grrrrr.

EDT: 18/8/14 It's off now! *throws confetti*

Saw my cardio team yesterday. The loop recorder will stay in place for another 6 months, they want to make sure they catch everything the ticker is doing for a little longer. I'm not in AF anymore, but all the scar-tissue from the surgery is still disrupting the rhythm - which, I'm told, can be common after tinkering. In order to keep the annoying-but-benign palpitations from becoming more-annoying, more-serious arrhythmias, I've been put back on an anti-arrhythmic medication. Pacing wouldn't necessarily get rid of these palpitations, so this is the best solution for the moment, and seems to be working well. The pulmonary vein re-plumbing and my repaired mitral valve are still looking good, so YAY!

Fangirling

Doing it a bit of fangirling remotely this summer, although I was able to get tickets from a friend (thank you, Naomi!) to see Monty Python (Mostly) Live last month. It was (mostly) good. I really enjoyed reliving the old sketches I'd grown up with and singing along with the "classics". Also, the filmed blurbs they played during the scene changes were all hysterical, and not-surprisingly, most featured Graham Chapman.

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] botanycameos wins at life for getting me Peter Weller's autograph last weekend in Las Vegas *squee*, and [livejournal.com profile] leochi wins at life for illustrating a scene from a book for me that birthday-girl Botany and I both love. (Just for fun, I sent it to the author, who was also delighted, and with whom I now have regular and ridiculously fun email conversations - Greg Cox, if anyone is interested).

Also, got rock star seats for the final matinee of Hamlet next year.

Want to write for [livejournal.com profile] happy_trekmas this year if it's on again, and otherwise, beta-ing a bit, and winding up people on Twitter as much as possible.

Aaaand, nothing else, really, as everyone else is going to things I want to be going to, but can't because I'm too busy/on the wrong continent.

Real Life

How the hell can it be my children's 10th birthday already??? I just blinked and BOOM! Also in birthday news, my dear-old-dad is 99 on the 19th, and plans are already afoot for next year's big blow-out. Which will definitely involve me catching up with as many people as possible back in the States, and watching a shit-tonne of baseball.

We're all off on a holiday later this month to Corfu. either to Lanzorate, Crete, or Malta, if Mr Nursedarry ever makes up his mind. Or maybe somewhere else; I've given up asking, and have done my bit taking time off work and getting the cat booked into a cattery. Watch this space. See, I told you. Oh well, it's booked.

Work is still great, not-so-new house is still great (though inexplicably full of Loom Bands at the moment), garden is lovely, everyone doing well.

I've had this done professionally in a job I had a few years ago, and it came out exactly the same.
