Las Vegas????

nursedarryDoug rang up today to find out if his request for the posting to Nevada had been accepted. (It's a bit of a lottery; there must be hundreds of people applying, but he meets all the criteria PLUS the RAF wouldn't have to sort out visas for me and the kids.)
He was told that the decision of who to send (they're currently looking for two people of his rank) would be made next week. Doug said the guy he spoke to DID know who he was (the chap on the phone said he recognised Doug's name - probably because Doug emailed in two applications:) and that he got "good vibes" from the guy (not that THAT counts for much in this industry).
At any rate, pray for a favourable outcome. It not only means we'd be moving to the States sometime this year, but that the UK taxpayer would foot the bill for the move (unlike if Doug had gotten redundancy last autumn).
The posting is for 3 years and we'd decide then what we'd do afterwards. Doug's 9 years' service would be up 6 months after that 3 years, but knowing me, I'd want to move back here (well, not here, particularly).

I should go hoover the house now, but instead am going to watch L&O and a two day old baseball game I recorded.
