Dusting off fandom...

So, I'm moving next week and hopefully, by the end of the month, I'll be back in the fandom saddle, ready to tackle mini_fest and hd_remix. What I'm not so ready to tackle is the impending appearance of all my in-laws for the holidays, so I'm ignoring that for the moment.

I am monumentally sorry for missing everyone's birthdays - without the LJ prompt, working from two phone diaries, as well as work being hellaciously busy, I've been TERRIBLE about remembering. I didn't even get ladyoneill's card to her in time, and I've known when her birthday is for the last 30 years! I've tried to PM or comment to everyone I've missed, and if I've forgotten you, please tell me and I'll post some fitting remark or pester you via PM. *irons ears and makes remembering birthdays NY resolution*

This is a flying visit but I'll bore you with this meme just before running away again.

TEN THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT ME:

1. Of all my senses, I value my sense of smell most. It is the most evocative and grounding sense I possess. And in case you were curious, coffee is my favourite smell of all.


2. I used to slash Jason and Speed Racer. Racer X was mine. ALL MINE!


3. I actually enjoy doing laundry.


4. I love wellie boots almost as much as cassie_black12 loves mittens.


5. It's no secret I'm a fan of ink but I'm not the first person in my family to have tattoos. Unlike my great aunt and uncle, though, I was able to choose what they were and where on my body they should be.


6. Boy by Book of Love is my all-time favourite song ever. This will come as no big surprise to most of you.


7. I'm more than a little depressed that I can no longer donate blood/bone marrow or any of my organs.


8. I have two favourite fandom boyfriends. In character, one of them is 30 years younger than me and the other is 1,953 years older. Funnily enough, they're both the same age in RL (at least for half the year).


9. Although I've always had cats in my family, and I love them, I really, really want a dog. A big one.


10. My fandom name is made up from the names of a real baseball player and a fictional astronaut.

That was at my birthday meet-up last year. accioscar made it up after I told you how I got the name Darry Willis. I can see where she got the Armstrong, but don't know too many baseball players with the name Vag.

That was the same night I was drinking Stolis and Tru Blood and you were repeatedly saying "Why not come out a window?"

Lavender is a close second for me. But I like (and loathe) lots of smells :D

But #7, now, why is that? #8, I know one of them for sure; the other one I'm guessing must be the True Blood dude. #10 makes me vexed with myself because I know I knew the answers once, but now I can't remember. After having a blood transfusion - which I did following the delivery of my kiddies, and having had all my blood running though a bypass machine during extensive cardiac surgery, the NHS doesn't allow it :( I can kind of see their point. I used to donate blood and plasma and Doug's taken my place on the bone-marrow donor list, so that's good enough for me.

Yup, you're right about #7.

As for #10, clearly the author of that list (and I can't believe there IS a list like that) has never seen Capricorn One.

I am not allowed to donate blood now either :/ Luckily, my dad makes up for it for me! I think he has some badge for donating a billion pints, or something, haha - whatever it is, he is very smug about it :D

LOL! Sadly, my other half is NOT keen on dogs, so this will remain a fantasy until I can marry Tom Felton, who's NOT one of my fandom boyfriends but I'm willing to make an exception because he owns a chocolate lab.

Hey, gorgeous! I am SO excited about seeing you. We will both be in our new houses by then - can't believe we're actually going to finally be moving (and miraculously only a week behind you now). We are living surrounded by boxes, and I am tired of cleaning ALL the things, in the full knowledge that I'll probably have to do it all over again in our own home. Man, I am having actual waking nightmares about dealing with the fucktard agents managing this rental. If I never rent again it will be too soon. I hope yours goes really well - can't wait to see your new place. :)

My mum lost her sense of smell entirely (and consequently most of her sense of taste as well) after her accident two years ago. It drives her nuts and is actually pretty depressing. Of course, if I HAD to choose, I'd keep my sight over everything else, but smell is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Aside from my enduring love for Kyle and Dwayne (which I know you share) who I like to think have aged gracefully alongside me, my only fandom crush these days is 16 years younger than me. *sigh* - can only hope he might have a thing for older, very cuddly, mostly crazy ladies. :)

I hope your move goes as smoothly as I'm going to ensure mine does - we're fortunate as we're just moving down the road, but yes to all the landlord stuff. And that reminds me, we need to get all the curtains cleaned cause of the cat fur flying about.
