Newsy post of news, birthdays, fic recs and squee

Right, first the stuff that can't be cut!

Once again, I was unable to write for [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest (I need to have a word with the mods to try to get them to work better around my schedule) but I DID manage to throw down a prompt. And that prompt was picked up and masterfully filled with the funniest, awkward bonded-to-the-bum-and-then-have-tea-with-the-future-in-laws fic imaginable. I urge you all to stick yourself firmly to The Dangers of Faulty Handwriting and then squee all over it.

In addition - these super-sweet flisties all have birthdays this month and I'm sorry this mention is a bit delayed.

[livejournal.com profile] phoenix_on_ice (my future wife), [livejournal.com profile] disapparater, [livejournal.com profile] kiraohara, [livejournal.com profile] the_flic, [livejournal.com profile] winter_june, [livejournal.com profile] autumn_veela, [livejournal.com profile] suelink, [livejournal.com profile] geminai5, [livejournal.com profile] jelly_baby23, [livejournal.com profile] fr333bird, [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae, [livejournal.com profile] adelev, [livejournal.com profile] infernallysly, [livejournal.com profile] mizorekibishi, [livejournal.com profile] moon_foot, [livejournal.com profile] crystalp734, [livejournal.com profile] becoming_wen, [livejournal.com profile] lilyevans102, [livejournal.com profile] otakuwench, [livejournal.com profile] angelpoppet, [livejournal.com profile] goldylost, [livejournal.com profile] tray_la_la, [livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, [livejournal.com profile] lttlelola, [livejournal.com profile] lea_anberlyn

Please enjoy these choccies and have a wonderful day!

And speaking of birthdays, this is for everyone!
THANK YOU

I'm trying to thank everyone individually who sent lovely stuff and birthday wishes, so if you've not heard from me yet, you should by the end of the weekend. If you don't, please hit me with a very large wad of money stick, and I'll be sure to be in touch.

Also, as many of you already know, I've had to give up co-modding [livejournal.com profile] crack_broom as my RL gets busier, and I'm very sorry to have to step down. I want to say a HUGE thank you to [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 and [livejournal.com profile] lore for being the best damn co-mods ever and all the reccers who have helped make the Broom a great place for great fandom goodies. And welcome to new mods [livejournal.com profile] scarletladyy and [livejournal.com profile] wwmrsweasleydo!

We have now relocated to the "sunny" northwest to a little town outside of Preston and we absolutely LOVE it. Of course the week of unbroken sunshine hasn't hurt, and we realise this isn't typical - we've lived much further north than this, after all. We've rented a big house, about twice the size and for less money than our house in Reading and are now looking for a house to buy in the area. We're looking for something even bigger with a bigger garden, and there's quite a few around here.

The kids love their new school, which also happens to be conveniently located across the road from the grocery store. There's lots of green spaces, parks, nice people, good food and even a Starbucks with a drive-through on my way to work.

And speaking of work, it now takes me about 15-20 minutes to get there and there's several different routes into town. Bliss.

The new job is proving challenging, since every area is very different, but it's been fun so far. The IT and support infrastructure is definitely not on par with the old area - we had all the bells and whistles in Thames Valley - but the work itself isn't going to be as frustrating as there insofar as here they let the GPs get on with a lot of stuff and don't spoon-feed them near as much. After all, they're contracted to do this stuff! Which leaves us free to work on areas that need more attention rather than the whole patch. I'm going to working primarily in immunisation, hopefully adult imms (flu, pneumo, shingles, etc), but will also have a screening remit, though I'm not sure in what capacity. I'll be covering the north of the county and Blackpool areas.

And, of course, I'm very much looking forward to meeting up with the northern fangirls!

That's all from me for now. I'm still here and am keeping up, back to posting the [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet, but just being a bit quiet these days. I know! Colour me surprised!

(TB friends, I'm sure you'll be hearing from me after the 16th:)
