Last year, my New Year’s Resolutions (which are always either whimsical or practical or both) were to be more consistent with a skin-care regime and to get a few juicy celeb tweets back to me.
Between Clinique & L’Occitane I achieved the first, and now actually make an effort to remove my make-up every night, use night cream and pamper my skin daily, including drinking lots more water - which wasn't easy considering I was on diuretics for half the year! LOL! My skin is much happier and ever-so-much clearer. (Coming off most of the other cardiac drugs probably helped too.) Today I ventured out without make-up and was told I looked 35 by someone who a) wasn’t trying to sell me something and b) wasn’t trying to pick me up (sadly, ‘cause she was gorgeous).
I think I can safely say that I also achieved and perhaps even surpassed the second of my resolutions, the highlight (for my husband at least) being told he was in a worthy career by Mark Ruffalo. (I have another favourite celeb experience, but you’re sick of hearing about him, so I’ll shut up about that.)
This year’s resolutions are: to stay out of my overdraft – or rather, the part of it where I start getting charged interest, and get all the fiddly little health things that got put on hold by my dicky ticker sorted. This means getting my [now] missing tooth replaced, another arthroscopy on my knee (which needs doing every 10 years till I’m old enough to get it replaced) and a couple other minor but irritating things.
So, between that, the overhaul of my job (as well as the entire NHS), plus looking for and buying a new house, I think that’s enough for the year to come.
