My friend, [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea, was once again lured into coming to south Oxfordshire with promises of good food, good drink, and good company.

But a wonderful weekend was had by all starting on Friday night with a bit of eastern European video-taped slash, a big plate of Indian food, and a nice glass or two of red.

We had to cut the boy-love short as we had a very busy day on Saturday and were both snoozing when Mr Nursedarry arrived home from work and drank the rest of the wine.

Bright and early on Saturday we opened sign-ups to THIS:

and then quickly made a dash to Didcot Wave where my offspring had swimming lessons starting at 8AM. Later, Mr Nursedarry arrived to take over child-care, and [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea and I hot-footed it over to the train station where 45 minutes later we arrived in London-town.

Once there, we met up with my friend Kathy the Kiwi (a cracktastic theatre nurse I worked with in Edinburgh, many moons ago), who now finds herself earning money hand-over-fist in the nation's capitol. We dined in sunny (read: rainy) Waterloo, where shortly after, we moved on to The Old Vic Theatre to see a matinee performance of As You Like It.

Directed by Sam Mendes, it starred a lovely young man named Christian Camargo, an actor [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith and I saw (nekkid) on stage in NYC in 2000, and whom we accosted shortly after to tell him of his large on-line fan base. He'd been spotted (just before his character invariably dies) in such films as Plunkett & Maclean and K19. I've stayed in touch with him since then and he's gone on to die in even more films, like The Hurt Locker and on telly as Rudy in Dexter. He's also been in a lot of other stuff I've not seen.

Anyway, scoring a couple of cheap tickets from the above-mentioned source, we had a fabulous time at the play. We met Christian afterwards for a beer and a chat before leaving him to get back for the evening performance. He may or may not have told us some juicy Hollywood gossip which we can divulge in a couple of weeks - fingers crossed.

After that, it was on to Leicester Square, where we met up with a very nice friend of Cuppa's who's working on a show there and we sat and had coffee while I scoped out all of the bishies for [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules. I may have smiled at a couple and down-right drooled at more than one, because they are my favourite boyz and I don't think Cheryl should have them all.

Then it was back on the train, then sushi and chocolate and Matrix: Revolutions, in front of which we found Mr Nursedarry sprawled when we arrived home.

Today was another early start for two hours of swimming (us, too, this time) and a lovely lunch at Pizza Express.

Now I get to do laundry.

But, I would like to say a huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea for the diversions and distraction and cheers again, for coming down: I had a great weekend.

Also, HOW PROUD AM I THAT [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 won Ron/Pansy LDWS!!!!!!?
It just goes to show what a good beta can do for you...

*grin* Sounds like a brilliant time. And I SUPPOSE you can keep the bishies on that side of the Atlantic in the spirit of fairness. And because it's hard for me to grope them via long distance. I've tried.

:D

Thank you - I'll just start...sampling. Yes, long-distance groping leaves a lot to be desired.

Sounds like a great weekend. Rudy out of Dexter, huh? Scary chap, if I recall. I bet he was fascinating!

I spent the weekend at a golf competition with Mr Cal. He came 79th out of 81, and only because 2 people were disqualified. That's true, sadly. But in the bigger picture he did come 79th out of 90,000, so I think that sounds better!

79th out of 90,000? That's totally so much better! (note to self: don't reply to comments whilst watching Bill and Ted.)

Still, it sounds like a nice way to pass the time.

Hmmm. I'm sure you must have slept at some point - I just can't work out when!

I've stayed in touch with him since then and he's gone on to die in even more films

! Are you sure you should be staying in touch with him? :-DD
