Or rather, the CCU of the Royal Berkshire Hopital, which is where I'm currently residing.

Right, I don't have an ulcer. I most likely still have a hiatus hernia (X-rays indicate I do), but am waiting for an endoscopy to decide treatment.

But to add insult to injury -

I've had a heart murmur all my life, and since the kids were born, have had mild palpitations which GPs thought were asthma-related. They're not. And they've become 100x worse in the last few weeks along with my shortness of breath, which I attributed to the hernia.

But there's more. The leaky heart valve causing my murmur is now so leaky, I'm not getting enough 02 to the left side of my heart and the rhythm is all messed up. I've had super ventricular tachycardia on and off for weeks now and finally called for the doctor two days ago, when I nearly passed out during a bout of palpatations. She called an ambulance.

The rhythm is being controlled by drugs atm and I have a trans-oesophogeal echocardiogram scheduled for this afternoon (had regular echo yesterday). The long and the short of it is I will most likely need a new valve. TBH, I'd prefer that over taking diuretics and strong anti-arrhythmics all my life (nasty side-effects).

In-laws coming down so poor hubs can finally go to work, and hopefully the hernia will be sorted too, in due course. And the cause of all this misery? Heredity and pregnancy. Family, eh? Bah!

EDT: my long-suffering boss just came to see me as she was at a meeting at the hospital. Said I looked really good. I should considering I'm off my face on Tramadol at the moment :)
