As the subject line would suggest, this is a mish-mash of an update, so apologies to anyone looking for coherency.

* [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix has finished, and I just wanted to say thank you to all the writers, artists, readers, commenters, helpers, lurkers, and anyone else who had anything to do in any way, shape, or form with that fest. I had a brilliant time with it, and can't wait to do it again. And the best part - or nearly the best part? Matching eveyone! It was da bomb!

* In keeping with that subject, I want to say another ENORMOUS thank-you to [livejournal.com profile] acromantular, who penned Room for Impovement based on this silly little drabble of mine. Her fic was just such a wonderful gift to receive. I wrote the fic below, remixing [livejournal.com profile] nicevenn's Ranus Princeps, which was also a darling gift to me a couple of years ago. All of these fics are short, cracking good fun, and pretty much hawter-n-hell, so do give them a look if that's your kind of thing :)

* Mr Nursedarry finished his last day at work yesterday - by being hungover after some RAF birthday celebration and not going in - and is now officially on leave until July, when he comes out of the force. That means between now and then, we just need to find a house (going to look at one today, in fact), and he just needs to find a job. So, not a lot going on at home...

* OMG, how much do I LOVE [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis's Shared Bed Fest? This is one of my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE plot devices (as anyone who's read my fic might tell you) and the stuff being posted over there is... GUH! I may have even used this very theme in a prompt for an upcoming well-known fest.

* T-minus a week and two days until THE TRIP! Have already got great plans which include shopping, eating, fangirling, partying, visiting parents (probably a good idea, as dear old dad had a hip operation a couple of weeks ago)swimming, shopping, sigh-seeing, con-ning, squeeing, and shopping. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

* Finally, and this is important: I'm looking for a couple of HP fan-artists to take on a commissioned drawble or two. Is anyone interested? I'd need them by about the 10th of June. Please comment or PM if you're interested. It's a fun project - I promise!

Right, time to go look at that house and get to a BBQ. Here's some smut for you before I go:

Title: The Slytherin’s Prince
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, mentions of Theo/Draco
Rating: NC17
Warnings: None - no, I really mean none.
Summary: Harry has been turned into a frog by a spurned girlfriend (guess who), and only a kiss from Draco Malfoy can break the spell. Draco’s new pet is a nice diversion from an affectionless affair with a house-mate, but he doesn’t realise that this frog can give him more than just companionship. 1st person present tense.
Word Count: ~3000
A/N: It helps to have read the original (link above), but isn't strictly necessary. Thank you and ♥ to my betas [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 and britpicker, [livejournal.com profile] groolover.

Hop to it! )

Hello everyone,

Back from the bowling party, watching some more taped Olympics (NOT figure skating, which I hate with a passion) and in an effort to avoid homework, am posting this early.

First of all Happy Birthday to all of my February friends! I hope you've all got your goodies by now or I'll be doing some serious *head-desking*.

Second, I'm slowly but surely getting my sticky post organised, which means getting recs sorted. These will partially be made up of gift-fics for me, so if I've been lucky enough to get one from you and forget to post it there - please shout, stomp your feet, and swear up-and-down at me until I put it up.

Third, unless you've just recently returned to the planet, you'll notice that [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest claiming starts tomorrow at 5am (UK time). I've got mine narrowed down to...er, not three.

Lastly, speaking of recs, here's a couple for you:

[livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea has generously recorded my [livejournal.com profile] speedpr0nz stories. They sound all lovely and posh and you can hear them here.

And then there's my *cough* Christmas present *cough* from [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12... I can't help but love this as it has everything I fancy in a fic (check out the title:). I love the characterisations of EVERYBODY in it and I love the story. It's hawt, it's funny, it's fluffy and fun. You've all probably read it already but if you haven't, enjoy and leave Cassie some lulz cause she deserves all she can get for going beyond the call of duty with this one. She's listened to me bitch and moan and squee and rant and put up with my kids and rather than send me a letter bomb, she wrote me this. What a gal!

Parseltongue, Quidditch, & Smut, Oh My!

Hope everyone's having a great weekend! ♥

Yes, fic! It's coming...prepare for spammage.

First off, Happy Valentine's Day to all of my flist and friends and Happy Chinese New Year to everyone I know who's celebrating. And happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] pink_mint! Check your in-tray, darlin' (at least your pressie was on time...I hope).

If I were back at uni, I'd be gearing up for Bacchus tonight, which is THE BEST Uptown krewe, imo, so have a great time to anyone who's going! I'm sooo jealous! (No, I never flashed my tits for long beads - how can you even insinuate such a thing...*cough*)

Thank you to the people who nominated me for a LJValentine!!! And thank you to [livejournal.com profile] lotus_lizzy, [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, and [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 for the cards! Huge thanks to the boys on the Gryff team (whoever you are - the year wasn't specified, so I'm assuming it's ALL of you:) for the great cuddly teddy vgift. It was in a box that opened today! And it's quickly making friends with the bear hug vgift sent to me by [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12, who, I suspect knew that would happen all along.

It's very quiet at Chez Nursedarry these days. Mr Nursedarry is still away and because of the offensive now taking place, all civvy communication to and from Afghanistan has shut down - I haven't heard from him in almost a week, but no news is, in this case, good news. My in-laws drove down from Scotland to take the kids to Wiltshire for half-term - no, really - so I'm spending Valentine's Day doing homework and finishing up some presentations for work. (And watching the Olympics and the Poirot marathon.) I did get out yesterday to watch the rugby with a another Scotland supporter who's wife's in the Falklands. What a shitty game that was! BUT, it won't be quiet here much longer with the descent of several fandom crazies into the Benson area very shortly!

I've already got my two (rather obvious) prompts made over at [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest and can't wait to claim one! (Actually, I want MINE!) Am now just waiting to see what's happening with [livejournal.com profile] hp_sas, because, honesetly, I could do with some more H/Sc and D/AS in my life. *nods*

So, a Valentine's Day to my hubby and a huge wave all of the others from 78th Squadron posted at Camp Bastion! *kiss, kiss* (Er, those kisses were just for my husband, guys).

And, in the spirit of the day, I'd like to give my love amd thanks to my wonderful flist, my amazing fandoms, and my fantastic RL friends for all of the lust, love and happy endings you've provided me.

To my favourite RL archivist, editor, Wo, beta and friend! I've got you a.....shrubbery! No, just kidding (Ni!). I say we talk [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon into taking a commission from me for one of your favourite long-haired evil dudes - you choose. And have a great day!

The superstupendous [livejournal.com profile] softly_sweetly is once again gracing Oxfordshire with her presence in a week's time for a a few days of debauched creative thinking, made even more scary by the fact that in a moment of wine-induced altruism, I told her I'd help mod [livejournal.com profile] hp_rarities. So if you're feeling a little restless for greener pastures, get over there now and sign up!!!

And speaking of fic, I am humbled, overwhelmed and excited as frak to have won a fic by [livejournal.com profile] faithwood in her [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti auction. I cannot wait to get my grabby hands all over my boys once she's had done with them. (That didn't come out at all like I meant it to, but you get the idea.)

My two short (silly and emo) [livejournal.com profile] hp_kinkfest fics are done and dusted. I now better get moving again with [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_tales before [livejournal.com profile] phoenix_acid gets all up in my face, as she's patiently waiting for some fic to go with her art.

Speaking of writing, many thanks for the nice comments on my [livejournal.com profile] harrypotterbang submission. That fic is ages old, and I'm glad I could finally give it home somewhere. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] candygram_5000 for the fabulous art!

I have to mention [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12, cause if I don't, she'll get cross.

In other news, Mr Nursedarry is now settled into his new digs with 30 minutes of phone calls a week and wifi, so, there's still no getting away from him. At least I've got away from his laundry. I miss him tons, though. I'd saved some annual leave so I have a day off almost every week he's due to be away, and so far all I've done is run errands. I wanna playyyyy! But I can't now cause I've got to go to a meeting on the base so, bye for now.

More wonderfulness to report!

The Bartender's Padawan over at Ho State University drew my name for the Seekrit Santa (which I'd forgot, which is just pathetic, seeing as I'm the one who assigns them!). She, with the help of my Georgian - he's dead, Jim - doctor got me an assortment of fun stuff!

The dynamic duo of [livejournal.com profile] snarkyscorp and [livejournal.com profile] _aurora_sky sent me the cutest and bestest Teddy bear and art! My phone takes shitty pictures (yes, blame the tools), so this doesn't do either gift justice. Both the bear and the boy have purple hair - squee! Thank you so much, ladies!

I got two beautiful cards: a homemade and personalised one from the talented [livejournal.com profile] eyesemerald and one with the cutest Christmas Antipodean animals from [livejournal.com profile] brissygirl. Thank you!!! And [livejournal.com profile] ladyoneill, I got a gorgeous card from you parents, too:)

ACK - almost forgot, the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] noeon sent me wonderful Chanukah stickers, as well as kid-themed stickers which are now fixtures in my house, on my furniture, and on my clothing:) Thank you, darling, and thank you for all of your wonderful help with embracing my inner emo.

[livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 outdid herself and sent me a whole load of things I can't possibly live without! This includes chocolate (frogs, of course), an iTunes voucher, a bank shaped like The Stig's head - yes, can you believe it? - iced tea, and a snake plush toy (to wrap around my lion plush toy, of course).

I also got my One Day In the Life... book, which is not only easy on the eyes, it's also incredibly inspiring. Guh!

New Year's Stuff )

I'll wrap this up by saying if you're thinking about attending, get over to [livejournal.com profile] hp_uk_meetup and vote in the latest poll!

Happy New Year to my flist! I've had an amazing first year back in the fandom. I thank you for the hawtness, the laughs, the tears and the ♥.

I am back from the wilds of a very snowy Scotland where I had the most stupendous time with my family and friends.

The best part (aside from watching my son open the remote-controlled scorpion he's been asking for all year) has to have been meeting up with the uber-wonderful [livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, who not only suggested knocking over an old lady who was wearing the hat I wanted (such heroism), but also helped me pick out earrings for [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet's very late Christmas present, gave me some good ideas for my [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_tales fic, and forced me to drink two pints of Best after stuffing myself at the Elephant House. I cannot WAIT to get back for the Meet-Up!

And today I had another fabulous lunch with my fun French friend, [livejournal.com profile] sybillevance and my family. We had a lovely stroll around the colleges and saw some beautiful buildings. I've lived here for over a year and still never get up to the colleges, so it's great to have a tour guide and a friend point out all of the stuff around me in such an historic setting.

How do I love my flist? Let me count the ways - thank you so much to the following awesome people:

MAJOR FLAILING must go to [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet for what has to be one of the best things I've read this year, made all the more special as it was a gift for me! I'm talking about A Funny Thing Happened On The Train To School... It was melt-you-into-the-floor hawt and pressed all of my post-HBP buttons.

And keeping with my train theme (I have such a thing for trainsmut), the lovely [livejournal.com profile] emzlovesharry drew me a bit of Next Gen naughtiness!

My second partner in crime, [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea surprised me with a cute and cuddly lion toy (where did she get that idea from???), which my daughter has co-opted and I haven't seen in a week.

[livejournal.com profile] cleo_jay, everyone's favourite spouse, sent me a load of wonderful things including a gorgeous red and silver belly-button ring! Thank you, muchly, light-of-my-life! (She's mine, too, y'all!)

My favourite little boy's bestest godmother, and my oldest friend in any galaxy, [livejournal.com profile] ladyoneill, sent a box of wonderfulness for my kids - hurray for SW toys!

Finally, thank you to me for getting myself a present in the shape of this gorgeous piece of H/Sc art you all know so well. It is, of course, Tackle, by the ridiculously talented [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, and seen in several of the more high-brow places around LJ. But the original is now sitting right here on my desk!!! I've kept it mostly away from the puddles of drool which collect next to it on a regular basis.

If I've left anyone out, please feel free to shout at me. Royal Mail is still jealously holding on to a couple of things, I believe, and as soon as they arrive, I'll be squeeing all over you, I promise!

Hello all,

I'd like to start this post by saying thank you to my husband for taking the kids out to the local soft-play centre so I can spend some quality time here. (I'm sure there's a catch, but for now I'm just going to enjoy it.)

Now for some thank-yous:

I got some brilliant cards from [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae, [livejournal.com profile] katelinmr, [livejournal.com profile] bryoneybrynn, [livejournal.com profile] delorispea, and [livejournal.com profile] melusinahp! They're wonderful, girls. (I especially like the snake in the comic and the stickers of the boys.) Thank yous!

I got my rubbish SW Episode II & III DVDs and some yummy chocolate from [livejournal.com profile] kilter, who went beyond the call of duty and got me the chocolate with cherries in (again) despite hating it! Thank you!

The whole family is going nuts over the fantastic presents from [livejournal.com profile] softly_sweetly! (I had the Santa bath bomb co-opted for use by the kids! WTF?) Thank you!

I got a nghhh-wonderful DR calendar from the equally wonderful [livejournal.com profile] accioscar. Thank you! *looks up at it as I typedsldafsdkljfh*

I got fic, w0oT! My [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays gift was posted: Taking the Easy Way Out. Thank you, Mystery Author!

I got art, w0oT! The artist who's chosen my fic for [livejournal.com profile] harrypotterbang sent me over what she's created for my submission and it's so effing good! She does photomanip "walls" using the actors' images with gorgeous backgrounds. And since my Big Bang entry is schoolsmut - colour you all so surprised, I'm sure - it's gonna work very, very well! Thank you!

I got to meet another wonderful fangirl, [livejournal.com profile] sibyllevance, who is by far and away one of the smartest people I've met. She not only knows everything about everything, but also HP in great detail. We had a wonderful time chatting (trying to watch HPB, but we just had too much to say!), having a yummy lunch and taking pictures of trees. And the most brilliant part? She doesn't live far away at all! I can't wait to meet up again and convert her from gen to slash! Thank you for the great day!

Finally, I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea, [livejournal.com profile] noeon, [livejournal.com profile] lotus_lizzy, [livejournal.com profile] silentauror and my wingman of mayhem [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 for their extendable ears (TM) and infinite patience. I'm still smiling!

Oh, I can't finish this without saying CONGRATULATIONS TEAM COLA!

Hello flist,

Thank you so much for the nice comments about my suffering with flu and a broken toe and not suggesting that I'm just a clumsy malingerer. I haven't commented on the thread, as I didn't get the comment notifications until late (as we all did), and I figured you'd all be sitting there scratching your heads and saying "WTF is she on about now?" when you got your emails. At any rate, toe is better (but not enough to get back to the gym, so it's the pool again for me tomorrow) and flu mostly gone, but ruddy asthma still making me sound worse than that train everyone should be having sex on...

Speaking of which, my DR calendar arrived in the post today and it has STICKERS! How awesome is that??? Many thanks, [livejournal.com profile] accioscar! Huge thanks too, to [livejournal.com profile] snarkyscorp for this hawt (but dark) bit of Malfoycest. It's true - no one writes them better than you. And I've also received a lovely card from the girl who shares my brain, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12.

Now, for some pimpage: presumably everyone has heard of [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_tales. If you haven't, get over there and grab something! You've got oodles of time to draw/write. (I've even managed to talk [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith into getting all grabby-hands with one of her favourite long-haired old guys.) I'm snagging [livejournal.com profile] phoenixacid's Draco, willyoumarryme? cause the plot bunny has not only bitten me, it's kicked me in the head with those big hind legs! This fest is sadly lacking in slash-loving artists, so if this is you and you've not got over to investigate, please do!

I'm also all excited about the next week, because as well as Work's Christmas Lunch #2, I've got a date with [livejournal.com profile] sibyllevance at New College (where the "ferret scene" was filmed). We're gonna sit in her common room and watch a film or two. I might even try to climb the tree, but knowing me, I'll end up in hospital, so that may be out.

Now on with our ecumenical holiday - the one where the kids eat their Advent chocolates after lighting candles and opening Chanukah pressies.

Oh, and I'd just like to say Chris & Ola for the final of SCD!

Wow! These wish list things really work!

I've already been promised some lovely drabbles (#3) by various wonderful people, I'm told there are some music recs (#7) in my future, I've had a great new icon (#1) from [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, I'm getting an elf-WOOT! (#3) and a couple of Star Wars DVDs (#5) from some Ho.

And today I found #10's signature scrawled across a playbill in the post! Many thanks and promises of indentured servitude (or at least many hours of babysitting) to the fantastic [livejournal.com profile] the_flic!

There was also a promise of chocolate until [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 ate it all before she could send it to me.

Anyway, I am paying it forward - most have already gone out, aside from a couple of people's things which I'm waiting to organise once I'm back up north of the border over the holidays. ([livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, don't let me forget to do a bit of shopping while we gossip:)

I'm also overwhelmed at the amount of wonderful fic/art being posted and it's only early days! Believe it or not, I'm mostly staying on top of it, but I think that's because I've been ill this week and have hardly done any work at the office and took today off. I suspect my in-tray is going to be sadly overloaded soon. But I promise, I am reading/looking at everything I can get my hands on.

So again, thank you all so much for the wonderful stuff and the promise of more wonderful stuff! *beams with holiday joy*

*fancies some chocolate*

Oh, I guess not...
