Title: What the Tribble Saw
Fandom/Pairings Star Trek (AOS) Khirk, blink-and-you-miss-it Spock/Uhura
Artwork: [livejournal.com profile] botanycameos
Rating: PG13
Word Count: ~2100
Warnings: Tooth-rotting fluff and Len being Len.
Summary: Woken up and so busted over a game of squash. Post ST:ID. McCoy-centric. Sort of a sequel to Break In.
Notes: This is not my best fic, or even my best head-canon. There’s some lovely sleepy!Khirk fic out there which is much sweeter than this – kurohachi on A03 writes some great stuff, and you’ll recognise her themes in here. This fic came about because I demanded the amazing ID fangirl and artist, [livejournal.com profile] botanycameos, make me some sleepy!Khirk art, and I bribed her with this fic. Written in an hour and quickly whizzed past my long-suffering beta, [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith.
Spoiler: The link to the art is at the end of the fic. I love the pesky inquisitive tribble.

Hosted on AO3
Shall we begin?

Seen the movie, bought the fitted tee-shirt (because my boobies look good in those).

Did anyone else notice...? )
I asked the actor if it had a name, but he couldn't remember. I say we make one up.

AAAAANNNND, remember this icon?

I'm expecting great things from you guys.

As the subject line would suggest, this is a mish-mash of an update, so apologies to anyone looking for coherency.

* [livejournal.com profile] hd_remix has finished, and I just wanted to say thank you to all the writers, artists, readers, commenters, helpers, lurkers, and anyone else who had anything to do in any way, shape, or form with that fest. I had a brilliant time with it, and can't wait to do it again. And the best part - or nearly the best part? Matching eveyone! It was da bomb!

* In keeping with that subject, I want to say another ENORMOUS thank-you to [livejournal.com profile] acromantular, who penned Room for Impovement based on this silly little drabble of mine. Her fic was just such a wonderful gift to receive. I wrote the fic below, remixing [livejournal.com profile] nicevenn's Ranus Princeps, which was also a darling gift to me a couple of years ago. All of these fics are short, cracking good fun, and pretty much hawter-n-hell, so do give them a look if that's your kind of thing :)

* Mr Nursedarry finished his last day at work yesterday - by being hungover after some RAF birthday celebration and not going in - and is now officially on leave until July, when he comes out of the force. That means between now and then, we just need to find a house (going to look at one today, in fact), and he just needs to find a job. So, not a lot going on at home...

* OMG, how much do I LOVE [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis's Shared Bed Fest? This is one of my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE plot devices (as anyone who's read my fic might tell you) and the stuff being posted over there is... GUH! I may have even used this very theme in a prompt for an upcoming well-known fest.

* T-minus a week and two days until THE TRIP! Have already got great plans which include shopping, eating, fangirling, partying, visiting parents (probably a good idea, as dear old dad had a hip operation a couple of weeks ago)swimming, shopping, sigh-seeing, con-ning, squeeing, and shopping. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

* Finally, and this is important: I'm looking for a couple of HP fan-artists to take on a commissioned drawble or two. Is anyone interested? I'd need them by about the 10th of June. Please comment or PM if you're interested. It's a fun project - I promise!

Right, time to go look at that house and get to a BBQ. Here's some smut for you before I go:

Title: The Slytherin’s Prince
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, mentions of Theo/Draco
Rating: NC17
Warnings: None - no, I really mean none.
Summary: Harry has been turned into a frog by a spurned girlfriend (guess who), and only a kiss from Draco Malfoy can break the spell. Draco’s new pet is a nice diversion from an affectionless affair with a house-mate, but he doesn’t realise that this frog can give him more than just companionship. 1st person present tense.
Word Count: ~3000
A/N: It helps to have read the original (link above), but isn't strictly necessary. Thank you and ♥ to my betas [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12 and britpicker, [livejournal.com profile] groolover.

Hop to it! )

I promised myself that when I got my new job, I'd spend a little money on me, not the kids, the pets, or on petrol.

I saved up for more art and new manga and today I ordered the last of them. Part of this haul is an early anniversary present (16 Aug) and some of it is to keep me entertained when Mr Nursedarry goes back to Afghanistan in November.

I also had [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk on Skype and [livejournal.com profile] geri_chan's fic enabling me...*cough* So, I'm now the proud owner of Vols. 1-5 of Haru Wo Daiteita (yes, Vol. 5 has that film in it:). Plus I may have bought [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk's, [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith's, and [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black's Christmas presents.

*pauses to hide from [livejournal.com profile] faithwood*

I also got the final piece of my three favourite [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon pictures:

And GUH! Look at this wonderful kissypic [livejournal.com profile] reira_21 has made for me. Bless her she remembered I like them barely legal, and this is just wonderful first kiss art. I love the textures: Harry's hair, Draco's eyelashes, and all of the hands in this just leap out at you. Just stunning! Thank you SO much for this, my love!

I didn't say anything about this earlier because I didn't want to jinx myself, but I interviewed for a job on Friday, after finding out about the interview two days beforehand - damn that volcanic ash!

Anyway, I guess my past job experience combined with the awesomeness of my PowerPoint skillz and ability to talk too much was enough to wow the panel. (I even had to do maths as part of the interview - so glad I didn't know about that going into it!)

I am now the new Public Health Programme Lead for Immunisation and Screening in Berkshire West. But before I can take that on, I have to finish my [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest fic! I'm not sure which is the more daunting of prospects...

BTW, if anyone wanted any birthday prompts, here ya go (Jae, I think I've given you one already *grin*). Edit - oops - H/D, H/Sc, D/AS or AS/S in HP, Sp/Mc in ST, Lee/Sam in BSG, Sharpe/Anyone (preferably Harris, though):

porridge
contact lenses
"You're what?"
Pin-up boy
Recipe
Best friends
Combine harvester
The colour purple
A visit to the ice-cream parlour
DIY disaster

Right, you're bored now - I'll be back this weekend with a few hundred holiday photos. *waves*

I have to use my Frog Brothers girlish screaming icon for this post. I just have to...

No, Keifer Sutherland is not pressing me to drink a bottle of wine with him (more's the pity), BUT, seriously - something else just as amazing happened to me today:

Remember back in the day when I told you I had splurged and got myself this amazing work of art by the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon? Well, before I got it, I dithered for days about maybe getting this one, too, because I love it so much. But I didn't. Swearing that I'd save my pennies, I would revisit Coming Home, perhaps for my birthday.

Well, a few days ago, while the other half of my brain ([livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12) and I were discussing yet another piece by [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, I went over to have a look at Coming Home again and what did I see? It had been SOLD! HOW DARE THAT HAPPEN?!!!

And this evening I found it sitting on my dining table, beautifully wrapped in Christmas paper - a present from the world's best beta, the Blackadder of Lawrence High School, Mrs J-L Piccard herself, [livejournal.com profile] delphipsmith!

Thank you, thank you, most awesome of friends!

And thank you, [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, most awesome of artists (and gift-wrapper:)

I am back from the wilds of a very snowy Scotland where I had the most stupendous time with my family and friends.

The best part (aside from watching my son open the remote-controlled scorpion he's been asking for all year) has to have been meeting up with the uber-wonderful [livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, who not only suggested knocking over an old lady who was wearing the hat I wanted (such heroism), but also helped me pick out earrings for [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet's very late Christmas present, gave me some good ideas for my [livejournal.com profile] hp_art_tales fic, and forced me to drink two pints of Best after stuffing myself at the Elephant House. I cannot WAIT to get back for the Meet-Up!

And today I had another fabulous lunch with my fun French friend, [livejournal.com profile] sybillevance and my family. We had a lovely stroll around the colleges and saw some beautiful buildings. I've lived here for over a year and still never get up to the colleges, so it's great to have a tour guide and a friend point out all of the stuff around me in such an historic setting.

How do I love my flist? Let me count the ways - thank you so much to the following awesome people:

MAJOR FLAILING must go to [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet for what has to be one of the best things I've read this year, made all the more special as it was a gift for me! I'm talking about A Funny Thing Happened On The Train To School... It was melt-you-into-the-floor hawt and pressed all of my post-HBP buttons.

And keeping with my train theme (I have such a thing for trainsmut), the lovely [livejournal.com profile] emzlovesharry drew me a bit of Next Gen naughtiness!

My second partner in crime, [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea surprised me with a cute and cuddly lion toy (where did she get that idea from???), which my daughter has co-opted and I haven't seen in a week.

[livejournal.com profile] cleo_jay, everyone's favourite spouse, sent me a load of wonderful things including a gorgeous red and silver belly-button ring! Thank you, muchly, light-of-my-life! (She's mine, too, y'all!)

My favourite little boy's bestest godmother, and my oldest friend in any galaxy, [livejournal.com profile] ladyoneill, sent a box of wonderfulness for my kids - hurray for SW toys!

Finally, thank you to me for getting myself a present in the shape of this gorgeous piece of H/Sc art you all know so well. It is, of course, Tackle, by the ridiculously talented [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, and seen in several of the more high-brow places around LJ. But the original is now sitting right here on my desk!!! I've kept it mostly away from the puddles of drool which collect next to it on a regular basis.

If I've left anyone out, please feel free to shout at me. Royal Mail is still jealously holding on to a couple of things, I believe, and as soon as they arrive, I'll be squeeing all over you, I promise!

Nom, nom, nom... Here I am, eating my way through these lovely snowflake cookies! Huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] leo_draconis, [livejournal.com profile] cassie_black12, [livejournal.com profile] ohnvm, [livejournal.com profile] micolerose, [livejournal.com profile] faithwood, [livejournal.com profile] katelinmr, [livejournal.com profile] lotus_lizzy, [livejournal.com profile] jtsbbsps_dk, [livejournal.com profile] moonlitdark, [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66, [livejournal.com profile] 3whiteroses, [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules, [livejournal.com profile] nolagal, [livejournal.com profile] okydoky, [livejournal.com profile] fireflavored, [livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet, [livejournal.com profile] delorispea, [livejournal.com profile] phoenixacid, [livejournal.com profile] lolafalola, [livejournal.com profile] brissygirl, [livejournal.com profile] stellamoon, [livejournal.com profile] pink_mint, [livejournal.com profile] alaana_fair, [livejournal.com profile] tray_la_la, [livejournal.com profile] tari_sue, [livejournal.com profile] nuclearsugars, [livejournal.com profile] loikifan and [livejournal.com profile] alovelycupoftea!

I'd also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] rage_it for the super-cute penguin and [livejournal.com profile] silentauror for the 2nd degree burns.

I absolutely adore virtual gifts, so these were (almost) all a wonderful treat!

I'm sorry I was so Scrooge-like in my gift-giving yesterday, but karma felt I hadn't done enough stupid things in one week and decided I should break my big toe whilst kicking a door open wearing fuzzy purple slippers (sadly, NOT the steel-toed ones) and shouting at my husband.

Honestly, the argument was an important one...it was all about...er...well, whatever it started with, it quickly detoured off into the familiar waters of ALL of those things we ALWAYS dredge up whenever we argue, know what I mean? Yes, I can almost see the nodding heads out there.

As a result, by the time I'd sat down at the computer, my toe strapped up in Christmas ribbon (I'd run out of Micropore), with a bag of frozen peas precariously balanced on it (my icebag sprung a leak, and Mr Bump wasn't cold enough from the fridge), I wasn't feeling very full of the Christmas spirit.

But if fanfic teaches us nohing else, it teaches us about the merits of amazing make-up sex. (Although usually sans a broken toe, which is something I will not ever be taking for granted again.)

Finally, I'd like to say thank you for all of the wonderful fic, art, recipes and laughs which have been popping up on my computer whenever I turn it on. I love my flist. Thank you all. I'm off to the doc now...
